It’s winter. Winter means COLD!… the snow flurries are flying, teeth are chattering, and you’re MORE than ready to ditch this country for some nice HOT *sun*! If you’re in a relationship your first reaction is probably to draaaaaag the boy along with you because there’s nothing like some sand, surf and unlimited drinks to strengthen your bond- right? Vacations with girlfriends are a TON of fun- so vacation with your GUY should be even better, right?
Well I say that is a bEaUtiFul thing! I do! Its WONDERFUL to find *beauty* in another, especially another woman. Because women can too often be cruel… and harsh to each other…. women are SO often competitive and judgmental. It’s sad. And it’s reflected on TV and movies… and rears its ugly head in the workplace. And even if the criticism *should* be about SKILL or TALENT or BEHAVIOUR…. a woman’s “looks” are always just thrown in, tossed in for added ammo into any barrage of insults or criticism. Even when completely irrelevant! And especially when it’s other women doing the mud-slinging!!! Terrible. We are our own worst enemies!
Best parts of being in a relationship? For me? …*blush*… Is how intimate you can get with someone you love truly, madly, deeply. Sex expresses how deeply in love you are (cue sounds of birds singing, violins playing, frogs making kissy sound). Of course it doesn’t need to FEEL that serious… sex is also just good FUN! And having FUN keeps it FRESH! Making every love-making sesh a totally unique, surprising experience!
Ever met your dream man at a local bar? Ha! Or ran into your Prince Charming at the grocery store? Waiting for the bus? No? Not even doing some banking? No? Well neither have I. As a busy business professional, it’s difficult to meet someone. And have the time to connect and get to know them. We are generally absorbed in tending to the needs of others…. family, employees, bosses, clients; there is often no room for a dating life.
So you just found out your partner cheated on you, what do you do? If you are Carrie Underwood, you trash his car. But that’s not really the best response…. So what DO you do? It a horrible realization… you feel angry, betrayed.. BEWILDERED, upset, bitter, disappointed, and sad all at the same time. And sometimes, if you’ve suspected it for a while, a little relieved that you are not just a jealous person… you are an INTUITIVE person. Being cheated on is a crushing blow to any woman… to the ego… to your self confidence, and to your ability to trust.
The holy grail of the relationship has to be the “Friend with Benefits”. I mean, friends are the best. They care for you, look out for you, have fun with you, they tell you when you are doing something dumb in a way that is funny and cute to take the edge off and of course they forgive you when you make a mistake in life. Plus who doesn’t like a good hard benefit sometimes? Yeah baby….
Certain realities exist today that make many of us women wonder if getting married is really right for us. Although this may seem depressing, it’s true, and before we walk down that aisle, we should really stop and consider what we want out of life and love.
Most little girls dream, at one point, of finding her Prince (or Princess) Charming and living ‘happily ever after’. The notion is a romantic one, but unfortunately the reality is far from fanciful. According to Statistics Canada from 2001 to 2010 there were approximately 71,000 divorces per year in Canada. Those numbers are quite significant when you consider there are 34 million people in the country and there are 140 – 150,000 marriages per year.
As a childfree chick you’re probably up close and personal with the subject of birth control (if you’re not you should probably get up close…real close!) There have been major advances in birth control over the last 60 some odd years (thank goodness). From a one time oops I need some NOW, to making it permanent, women have never been more empowered when it comes to preventing pregnancy, and if you’re here, you most definitely want to prevent pregnancy, am I right?
Yes my friends, it is true. This is not stuff of legend, but in fact a reality. 30 year old virgins do exist among us. In today’s society it is hard for most of us to imagine that anyone can make it out of high school with their virginity intact, much less through college.
